Materials and Equipment
List of Recommended Materials.
(you may not need everything to begin with I have marked the essentials * )
A sturdy A1 sized drawing board (not having holes or a carrier or slide rule attached).
A1 cartridge paper is provided free as are some other smaller sizes.
(You may want to experiment with other more specialist types of paper also.)
A1 Portfolio
A4 sketch book(not ringbound as these tend to rip with lots of use).
Various grades of graphite pencils.*
Putty rubber.*
Craft knife.*
Masking tape.*
Pastels ( chalky type and oil )*
Paints:- Gouache for smaller works (which is a sort of mix between watercolour and acrylic). Variety of Acrylic paint, along with acrylic gel medium to make it go further, is good for general use.Variety of oil paint, along with linseed oil. Black, white and the 3 primaries:- yellow, blue, red.(is a good start) *
A few good quality brushes of various size and shape.*
Most materials are available for purchase from me on site at the same price with the exception of specialist papers, A4 sketchbook and A1 portfolio, drawing boards
You get a 10% discount at Takapuna Art Supplies. (just mention my class) you may need to order the board. they're about $70-80 but totally worth it, a good board is invaluable, a bad board (which there are some to use) will frustrate and hinder your creativity.
